I have a Logitech wheelmouse and have in my XF86Config:
Section "Pointer"
Protocol "Logitech"
Device "/dev/mouse"
ZAxisMapping 4 5
EndSection
The important part is the ZAxisMapping. It tells X to use the wheel as a
4th and 5th mouse button, allowing programs to react on the "button down"
and "button up" events of the scroll-wheel. Be aware that it is
program-specific whether or not the wheel works.
with kind regards, Rogier Steehouder
