Yes, that fixed it. Thanks! I was almost at the solution myself when your email arrived. I was being a bit blind in terms of the relevant file being in the compat hierarchy and had just noticed that. I'd not quite got to the point of thinking of or trying a deinstall of compat9x though. I was just about to try a reinstall of compat9x Doing a pgk delete of compat9x showed only archivers/rar as a dependency. Sadly, I need rar installed so need compat9 too. Both reinstalled safely after the Kodi build/install though. Thanks again.
