The only problem I have with this version of gencat is that it doesn't
generate and maintain a header file automatically - you need to manage
the number ID space by hand.  Yuck!

Anyone out there got a better version of gencat?  Someone sent me one
awhile back that does all these nice things, but it has DEC copyrights
all over it and I'm sort of afraid to even look at the code.
