I installed 7.0-BETA4/amd64 onto my friend's Dell Inspiron E1505, which has one of these (pciconf says it's a "10418086 Intel 3945ABG Wireless LAN Controller"). With the module built from RELENG_7 sources from a few hours ago, "ifconfig wpi0 up" panics the kernel with (copied by hand): Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode cpuid = 1; apic id = 01 fault virtual address = 0x0 fault code = supervisor read data, page not present instruction pointer = 0x8:0xffffffff806f6bd2 stack pointer = 0x10:0xffffffffae6ba970 frame pointer = 0x10:0xffffffae6babc0 code segment = base 0x0, limit 0xfffff, type 0x1b = DPL 0, press 1, long 1, def32 0, gran 1 processor eflags = interrupt enabled, resume, IOPL = 0 current process = 1108 (wpi taskq) trap number = 12 panic: page fault cpuid = 1 The 20071102-freebsd-wpi.tar.gz tarball behaves the same way, and it also happens on FreeBSD/i386. If it's not a known problem, shall I provide a backtrace? -Boris --------------080401030803020405030909 Content-Type: text/plain; name="dmesg.txt" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline; filename="dmesg.txt" Copyright (c) 1992-2007 The FreeBSD Project.
