What are you talking about? I think Chuck just got confused. :) He probably thought you wanted lpr and lpd and whatnot to print the copyright message every time it starts up. (Which is, of course, a bit too much.) I certainly see nothing weird or unreasonable about having the commands print copyright information when the user asks explicitly, and your request that the string include information about modifications made by people other than yourself so you won't be accused of breakages caused by fumblefinger.com.
