Actually, it seems to only fix the problem when the system is idle (or cold?). Building kernels indicates that the problem is still there by printing "acpi_tz2: _TMP value is absurd, ignored (34xx.xC)" message. Then idling stops the message being printed. No other messages are printed about this. Bruce
