After using IBM and Toshiba laptops for years now, I cannot stand touchpads. They are extremely imprecise in comparison, and make dragging the pointer to highlight text very difficult. Also, I find that having the pointer in the middle of the keyboard is great--no need to move your hands away from the typing position to mouse. Unfortunately, I've dedicated a Toshiba to FreeBSD but the IBM to Win2k, so I can't help with more specific FreeBSD issues except to confirm that the suspend partition/file should be equal to your RAM--it's used to save a copy of RAM so that a battery failure won't wipe out your session (like older Toshiba's will). - - - - - Geoffrey T.
