I found things to be just the opposite. cdrecord checks the
environment for the device name, so I can set it once and forget
it. For burncd, you always have to specify the device unless it's the
wired-in default. I sent patches to S=F8ren for both the command and th=
e
man page, but they aren't in either -stable or -current yet.
