fwiw, a recent compile from ports of 3.3.6 gets my Xpert 128 working, but still has the weird stray lines of text popping up all over the root window problem. I installed X 4.0 from ports and it's just peachy now. Though evidently there are local user security issues with 4.0 being suid.
