Because it still works, fetchable and website is still up? There is no
GNOME that use it as they have replaced from gamin to gio, but other
ports do depend on gamin. If you want to spend your time to get rid of
gamin is fine with me. Other ports probably forgot to remove gamin
dependency if they have switched to gio or still actually need gamin.
