The thought of "stealing" /proc/meminfo from a Linux box had never even crossed my mind, that was a stroke of genius. I shall have to try it on my commercial copy of Myth2. The sound problem sounds interesting (no pun intended). What sound driver are you using? I happen to use the commercial OSS driver (http://www.opensound.com/), which some say does sound for Linux-emulated programs better than either of the FreeBSD ones. (in fact, my Linux RealPlayer runs better than it ever has, using OSS.) I'll give it a try with OSS and let you know. This seems like a good time to bring up something that I've been doing a little work on. I'm putting together a web site of "FreeBSD Application Notes." The basic idea being, to list all Linux/SCO/etc. software that will work with FreeBSD's binary compatibility, and what special steps (if any) are required to get the program up and running. I'm almost finished writing the appnote for Civilization: Call to Power (but haven't converted it to HTML yet), and I will write up your solution to Myth II shortly (giving you proper credit, of course). I really think that something like this would be very good for FreeBSD advocacy.
