Thanks for your reply. I'm using an Intel Pro/10 10Mbs NIC - perhaps going to 10/100 is the solution. When BY came to install
the cable-modem, they installed a 10/100 NIC in a Windows box which I thought excessive bearing in mind the 512Kbs cable modem
speed.
