Hi,
I too have problems with controller Promise PDC20378 SATA150 TX.
Periodically at loading system the fourth HDD "falls off".
(Connected on PATA the interface of the controller on ata4-slave channel)
The main thing that I can not understand law.
HDDs interchanged the position, but does not work on last channel.
dmesg writes instead of the normal message
=> ad9: 78167MB <Maxtor 6Y080P0/YAR41BW0> [158816/16/63] at ata4-slave UDMA100
the following
=> ad9: 77815MB <Mkxo{ Y38c C 3 ; 3 ; [ k [ k [ c k/Yø1KWs> [34652/73/63] at ata4-slave SATA150

=> ad9: 76151MB <M{ Y{83P{ k ; k k C k [ c 3 c/YCR71ê> [72236/17/127] at ata4-slave SATA150
And is farther or a panic or will swear and further it is loaded.
Promise stands on matherboard ASUS P4C800 E-DELUXE.
HDDs Maxtor 2 - 6Y080P0 and 2 - 6Y080M0.
RAID 0+1.
Though raid it similar does not depend on type - experimented.
