The daemon (not demon) logo predates FreeBSD...in general he's been a mascot for BSD operating systems for quite some time. For a few words as to *why* BSD has the daemon as its mascot, take a look at: http://www.freebsd.org/copyright/daemon.html I've never interpreted the BSD daemon as a sign of disrespect or jest towards Christianity or any other religion, and I'm confident that it was never intended as such. In peace, Bruce. PS. I once made the mistake of referring to the BSD daemon as "the little devil logo" in front of Kirk McKusick. He was very polite in correcting me, but nevertheless I nearly died of embarassment when I realized my error. --==_Exmh_-1396886067P Content-Type: application/pgp-signature -----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE----- Version: 2.6.2 iQCVAwUBNujFWajOOi0j7CY9AQHkNgP/TPMb5VZNa3DTGhMEmZO+6T3mtETRmasf b9tY+b/JN/uSUopeQgB0JFXlnDgt0gC4XiwmQQhe3bz29B/cLEnQ3FbvqUoLtlHC CUYv1/YONm7QVObCjc5cRpwS7ej0WgLDAOjkqa57RitUaJjSytMdkQAbSMza926C ZLDKmUoIcuU= =JDNo -----END PGP MESSAGE----- --==_Exmh_-1396886067P-- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
