2013/7/9 Justin Hibbits <jhibbits@freebsd.org>: > What about importing the necessary functions into the glibc libutil for > Debian? This way it stays as libutil, and if glibc imports the functions to > itself there's less to worry about. If glibc's libutil started out life as > libbsdcompat, then I think it would be appropriate to merge as needed. Even assuming they'd agree, which is unlikely, FSF would require copyright assignment paperwork, to be signed and physically mailed by each contributor. This would apply to future updates as well. The paper itself is no big deal (author retains the right to license the software under any terms they wish), but hunting down contributors to persuade them to sign the papers is definitely not what I had in mind when I started this thread ;-) -- Robert Millan
