Hello there!

[Please keep me in Cc:]
[Please excuse my previous incomplete post - I hit send accidentally]

I tried to run FreeBSD 4.4-20011128-STABLE as a guest system under VMWare.
However, this failed. The host system is Linux RedHat 7.1 (2.4.2-2 kernel),
VMWare is VMware Workstation protocol=6 build=build-1455 product='3.0.0
build-1455'. The machine is P3-800 (Coppermine), ASUS CUSL2-C, 128Mb.

Configuration is no SCSI devices, 3000Mb virtual disk as primary master,
CDROM ISO image as secondary master, floppy adapter, 64Mb of memory available
to guest system, 'FreeBSD' and 'Other' were tried as a guest OS type.

When I boot the 4.4-STABLE ISO image, it enters sysinstall. I'm able to set
anything in 'custom' installation type; but when I press 'commit', it
successfully performs newfs on the disk, then shows "Starting emergency
holographic shell on VTY4" and panics.

The last output on VTY2 is:
DEBUG: Generating /etc/fstab file

Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode
fault virtual address = 0xc0be2000
fault code = supervisor write, page not present
instruction pointer = 0x8:0xc02d4daa
stack pointer = 0x10:0xc036de70
frame pointer = 0x10:0xc036de80
code segment = base 0x0, limit 0xfffff, type 0x1b
                        = DPL 0, pres 1, def32 1, gran 1
processor eflags = interrupts enabled, IOPL = 0
current process = Idle
interrupt mask = bio
trap number = 12

Any pointers to what I'm doing wrong?

Regards,
Alexey.
