Hello, I do not know of any Athlon motherboard with SMP support. There will be in the future chipsets from AMD with SMP support, but they don't exist yet. Moreover, SMP under FreeBSD is pretty much linked to facilities present in Intel processors. There may some work to do before FreeBSD runs as SMP on a non-Intel machine (for example, SMP-Alpha ?). Then, you would have to balance the performance/price ratio between a quite rare, thus expensive, Athlon-SMP and a cartload of very inexpensive SMP-Celon machines (like the BP6 motherboard from Abit). If all you want is the most crunch for each euro you spend, you may be better served with two or more bi-Celerons for the price of an SMP-Athlon. Hi, Does anyone use any AMD Athlon processors with FreeBSD. If so, are they stable? I am thinking about a Kryotech 1GHz job or a normal 750MHz for safety purposes. Do they support SMP yet etc. etc. Thanks Chris Smith Raytheon Systems Limited To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
