  No, I did not install X11, because the machine had just 8MB of memory.
I used it for non graphics
 applications,  and a little programming when I was on the move. I have
since then moved up to a
 Olivetti Pentium 90, which runs  FreeBSD 2.2.1 and X11 like a dream :-)

 It may be that my memory fails me, but did TI use Chips & Technologies
VGA controller chips?

 Have you tried these or Cirrus Logic (which I believe the newer TI's
use)?
