I noticed something on the freebsd-questions emailing list about a pc-sysinstall, but downloaded a snapshot .iso of CURRENT-9.0 mainly to see what was there, not planning to install; am already running 8.1-RELEASE. Installer looked the same as for recent releases through 8.1; installation sets were broken into base.aa, base.ab, etc. (floppy-sized or a little less), rather than the easier-to-handle base.tbz (or .tgz), etc. Man page for sysinstall (FreeBSD 8.1) says it is overdue for end of life. Options are confusing. What is a "standard installation"? How many users are going to be able to get together enough good floppies to install that way? Tom
