I just undertook to upgrading my laptop -- the move to 4.4Stable went fine, but now I've upgraded X from 3.3.6 to 4.10 and I can't get the box to go to 1024x768 ... which it ran fine with under 3.3.6 at 16 bpp-- It's a Dell Inspiron 3200 -- and rather than send a mongo message here are relavent urls to configs and logs: Working 3.3.6 Config: http://www.warpedhippo.com/~hmarq/xf3.txt Current 4.1 Config: http://www.warpedhippo.com/~hmarq/xf4.txt Applicable X log: http://www.warpedhippo.com/~hmarq/xflog.txt I started with the output of XFree86 -configure and then added a "Modes" section with the modelines from the 3.3.6 file, added a colordepth entry and uncommented the 'internaldispaly' option. Nothing so far has made any difference, and as you can see it's throwing out all the 1024x768 modes for horiz reasons. Any and all thoughts appreciated.
