okay, so far so good.  the script i am using works when i call it from an
xterm.  and the 'logger' statement works when it is called from a console.
but when called from a console (actually, by an APM script that detects when
the battery is low) is doesn't show the message in X, only on the console.
do i need to direct it to X or do something special to get it to work?
