Well, I did not write this out of spite, I waited a long while before asking this, talking with my fellows portmgr, and they feel the same way as I do. > I think you're forgetting that pkgconf does not exist solely for the > use of the ports tree, but also for the use of developers who write > software on FreeBSD. Your commit message said : "This renders 82.6% of Mk/Uses/pathfix.mk obsolete." Which is the policy change we are against because it was not discussed first. I have nothing against making the life of developers easier, but this is not the message your commit was conveying. At all. And not at all what Tijl and you talked about afterwards. Now, instead of plainly reverting your commit, what you could do is add a non default option to pkgconf adding lib/pkgconfig to the search path. But it must be off by default. But you have to[1] do the first one or the second possibility I gave you. 1: rule 5 of https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en/articles/committers-guide/rules.html --=20 Mathieu Arnold --RDL9JG2dpN4GrG8bgBjNueI64xqoPbbKW-- --8L5hBboaGc7kLLlx8JWwrQoVjPRokAsC0 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2 iQJ8BAEBCgBmBQJYv/wHXxSAAAAAAC4AKGlzc3Vlci1mcHJAbm90YXRpb25zLm9w ZW5wZ3AuZmlmdGhob3JzZW1hbi5uZXQzQUI2OTc4OUQyRUQxMjEwNjQ0MEJBNUIz QTQ1MTZGMzUxODNDRTQ4AAoJEDpFFvNRg85ITZ0QAKIWhbLrCB2xdx+T/9oxFm0L BwgOaEfsU68feHBJuYBiMeAdxWsdPXT+qKFsSZQF9NaHtaEdwh002dmQ2baZj4+U 53RhM0TDk41RNHnkoCTFO8WH/se6ju2J9k7Zg4z76a7BbcKriexBxAPN7HBIqM4x NVGkwwivcm9oYa7uEz1W9r77zCvDwtutxDvky+WVnDNwg0j3jsW20URRu45VJ4pw wtRVhG4RF4CDeP/IMoUapfrrgt2dZe5LtCsao0KRy6q8n2HBrU0qoEPTHOefDyIZ 1WJumfSNDuSTbXBQnRI4phGncP7NPkr5qj52SFyP63N4stJO3DFdzNPC78zDaJX/ aOTc5qlTqOZMby+w/YRube8u5zNzfJzfh0sxSDkMeq04P+UyAm4IHFg17jGahpRB De/0iOl+QB3j2CCmB/JgApbyxyd19a9ZBrSOkPA6z/5VIUQDiLAhdWmxp4TQkAao JvPPQcYZMLCU2rrqOXsX2uLqTao5HfQVx/trRxPD+qiOPinxWdUrhJdw2ptEkUXO PzDbPKYtiSq3YpM6wfn7iLpph2Eq2A37MxWJ5gZJLZ0H4wknGqt5zD+u5x/p1TYL 5HUgf/T4cvVoZoseelbuzAV3t3fNkGWZOn1TaHqYojhCCMw3amJ1TjDU0HNMIy3o a7qxYyyxzelXBcDum7Lk =0F7P -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --8L5hBboaGc7kLLlx8JWwrQoVjPRokAsC0--
