It should be simple to change the user-land CD burning applications like cdrecord. As already mentioned, CAM already provides a SCSI pass-thru mechanism. Look at the CAMified xmcd for an example. The only thing that will initially be missing will be the worm control driver/commands. IMHO, it is important to bring CAM in now and get it ready for 3.0.
