Message-Id: Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Hello! I'm trying to configure a proxy server for my LAN to access the Internet. I chose Delegated 4.4.1 package, 'cause it seems to include all useful protocols in one product, and its generalist/specialist scheme seems smart. The configuration: FreeBSD 3.0-SNAP box with two ethernet interfaces, one for the LAN and one connected to a router which gives access to the Internet (currently, no forwarding is taking place between interfaces). I have a registered domain with plenty of IP addresses (I'm going to be sort of ISP for a few government institutions in my country). The freebsd box already sees the whole Internet with no problem. I have the Delegate 4.4.1 proxy package installed, but I have no idea on how to configure it. Interactive configuration works great, but I need to start it automatically, so I need some light here. Services I want to make available to the LAN users at this time: HTTP, SMTP, FTP and SOCKS proxies. Others will be installed when the need arises. Suggestions, comments, sample config files, etc. are welcome :) Also, if you think Delegated 4.4.1 is not a good choice, please give me some advice about other (free) product. Thanks in advance. Best regards, Victor P.S. How does Apache perform as a proxy server? is it better than squid or delegated?
