FreeBSD will install just fine on a machine with 2GB of disk space and 40MB
of RAM.  (I've got 3 machines doing various things which are all P166s with
1GB or 2GB disks.)

Depending on what your laptop *is*, you may run into some device problems
(sound and video card support).
