I dont get as far in the boot up process to do a dmesg. I get into a looping error msg...(the oly way out is a re-boot). The msg is something like: (#md/2) is 513 (ssize is 512) """I think that this means that the o.s.'s starting block is past 512 ? """ and that I need to re-partition? I currently have 1st GB of HD as win98 and next partition is 3GB w/ fbsd 2.2.1 any ideas?....I have switched to using the fdc controller on the mother board. I will try it again...(in a little bit)...as soon as I fini with reading my email. thanx in advance $bill --- Andy Farkas <andyf@speednet.com.au> wrote: > > On Thu, 12 Oct 2000, bill fiore wrote: > > > I am sorry if i did not elaborate on which > > controllers were enabled and when. > > > > With the 1542 fdc controller enabled and the > fdc > > on the motherboard DISABLED ...I get the > > direction bit and cmd 3 errors described > below. > > > > With the 1542 fdc controller DISABLED and the > fdc > > on the mother board ENABLED...I get NO fcd > error > > messages. > > > > Does it make sense?...are floppies on the > 1542 > > supported? > > Show the dmesg output for both scenarios.
