Yes, I know it's ancient. We've been planning on replacing it with a Sun Ultra-2 box (sorry) for quite some time, but for various reasons it hasn't happened yet. We're assessing the Y2K vulnerability of this box in its current state. It does nothing other than run stock daemons (but not sendmail) and "sshd" and the INN 1.4p4 "innd" and the innxmits needed to service news feeds. My reading of http://www.freebsd.org/y2kbug.html was basically that unless I upgrade the machine to FreeBSD 3.1, I might have problems ... that really isn't practical given lack of time and our current scenario (the replacements are being configured as we speak, but likely won't be ready in time for the end of the year). So I'm just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on likely outcomes if this bare-bones setup continues into 2000 for a short time. (Like will out incoming news feeds die? hehe) Any input appreciated ... thanks in advance.
