I think this comes down to the rule "when the meta-build tool changes, you =
must
update it". Building in a clean environment does that and we don't have a w=
ay
to support building in arbitrary environments. The patch might work -- but
other build tools like meson probably have similar issues so it should be
attacked globally, or not at all.
