If I remember my history right[1], SGI based Irix on BSD extensively and became the first POSIX compatable BSD. See if you can play off some sense of loyalty. Explain to them that using a dual license would permit even further use of the product. Is there a stock "Please use a BSD license instead" letter that is kept around for these purposes?
