I'd rather not, since an update to science/hdf5-18 do libhdf5.so.8 would 
break the dependency and cause people problems.  Please see the comments 
above  BUILD_DEPENDS and RUN_DEPENDS.  If we had a >= syntax (like 
pkgsrc), I'd love to use that.
