The current tinderbox *can* check out sources from svn. It may be pointed to the http://svn.freebsd.org/base/ webdav source and it should work fine (for some value of 'should' and 'fine'). Verifying that this still works correctly is still a bit of work though, but it's a medium-to-small project for someone with tinderbox foo.
