There were some problems in STABLE for awhile where one needed to add the NETSMBCRYPTO. I'm not sure if that's still the case, though I still have it in my kernel. There is a notice that it is no longer necessary in CURRENT /usr/src/UPDATING. mount_smbfs is working for me now, however.
