Dear Brian,

I no longer have that 5.0-RELEASE system where I managed to run
Oracle 9i, but here are some hints/links on how I configured the
kernel:

these are kernel options:
options SHMMAXPGS=65536
options SHMMNI=100
options SHMSEG=10
options SEMMNS=256
options SEMMNI=100
options SEMMSL=100

and here's my original post telling the success story
and the steps leading to it.
