  Exactly. Semi-standard rule for null-modem wiring should apply: RTS+CTS,
DTR+DSR+DCD.

  Than maybe you should try to use the following gettytab(5) facility:

      nc      bool    false             terminal does not supply carrier (set
                                        clocal)
