Hello, In a few words : booting from a CD-ROM is a kludge and is not guaranteed to work (due to odd combinations of the BIOS, the chipset, and the boot image at the beginning of the CD). So : one guaranteed way to boot FreeBSD is from a diskette (on which you have written the boot image) and then to install from the CD.
