I have been attempting make a ppp connection now for two days with little success. I don't know if it is my modem, perhaps it is not installed corretly or not. I am using a Pentium 200 Chembook laptop, everything works great with the exception of the modem. I should note that my PCMCIA modem does not ring. On the initial install I used the PAO boot floppy for the PCMCIA support. Everything went well, my modem was recognized by the installation program. I have read the Freebsd handbook and have followed the directions to the letter. This is my ppp.conf file ISP: set device /dev/cuaa0 set speed 38400 set dial "ABORT BUSY ABORT NO\\sCARRIER TIMEOUT 5 \"\" ATE1Q0 OK-AT-OK\\dATDT\\T TIMEOUT 40 CONNECT" set phone my_isp_number set dial "ABORT 5 login:-\\r-login: My_LogOn_Name word: My_Password" set timeout 120 set ifaddr 0 0 the actual messages I get after I execute the ppp command are: $ ppp User Process PPP. Written by toshiharu OHNO. Using interface: tun0 Interactive mode ppp ON myname>dial ISP Dial attempt 1 of 1 Dialmodem: login failed. The ppp.log file shows that a connection is made few a few seconds but no octets are sent or received? Any help will be appreciated. Thnak you.
