When installing the freeBSD OS you are prompted to:

ADD USERS
ADD GROUPS

I CHOSE ADD USERS and successfully  put in my own login and password.
Later I was prompted about adding a password for root.  I used a 10
letter
password in uppercase.   After completing the installation I can login
as a user
but cannot get to superuser status.

Please advise where to look on the net or refer the necessary steps.
