I know I shouldn't be doing this (asking this here) but maybe there are some souls who've walked this tight path. I am attempting to UPDATE from 4.7-STABLE to 5.0 via cvsup. So I have changed my tag "default release=cvs tag=." and cvsup-ed. I have read UPDATING but I still fail to get through. I did make world and it failed with the error below: ===> etc Checking to see if your booted kernel is fresh enough.. /usr/obj/usr/src/bin/sh/sh -c 'echo "Testing installed kernel for new sigaction(2) syscall"' Bad system call (core dumped) *** Error code 140 Stop in /usr/src. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src. So I did build a kernel and found that the new kernel is installed in /boot/kernel/ - it does not overwrite the one in / Secondly I tried booting the new kernel but it panicked. It means I am unable to proceed further. In a nutshell, I am requesting anyone who has gone through this path of updating and willing to share their notes on it to help me out. Thanks in advance. -Wash -- Odhiambo Washington "The box said 'Requires Wananchi Online Ltd. www.wananchi.com Windows 95, NT, or better,' Tel: +254 2 313985-9 +254 2 313922 so I installed FreeBSD."
