Hello,
I have a
Pentium III 450Mhz,
128 RAM,
256 Swap (one partition),
7.7 gigs IDE mounted on /
AOpen PG128 with 4megs of ram.
I actually managed to get a standard VGA 8bit server going. but the problem
is that it is soooo slow. It takes over 30 minutes for the KDE interface to
come up! And once it is up, any move of the mouse takes about 2 minutes to
process.
I did a telnet from a remote PC and ran TOP from the prompt. this is what I got
last pid: 470; load
averages: 0.80, 0.53, 0.41 up
0+01:18:52 22:02:24
46 processes: 2 running, 43 sleeping, 1 zombie
CPU states: 100.0% user, 0.0% nice, 0.0% system, 0.0% interrupt, 0.0% idle
Mem: 13M Active, 24M Inact, 15M Wired, 8351K Buf, 71M Free
Swap: 256M Total, 256M Free
PID USERNAME PRI NICE SIZE RES STATE TIME WCPU CPU COMMAND
395 root 102 0 7536K 6508K RUN 16:31 97.90% 97.90% XF86_SVGA
400 root 2 0 4600K 3816K select 0:02 0.00% 0.00% kwm
The swap is not being used AT ALL!
what's wrong?
thanks
Marcelo
