Everything has been working famously on this box with respect to the builtin atheros ethernet device. I updated to current a few days ago and now after a few minutes the connection dies with repeated: ath0: device timeout. The difference is, as mentioned, I am on the latest current. also, since the generic kernel has the atheros stuff in it I took them out of /boot/loader.conf. so, here's what I have: /boot/loader.conf: #wlan_wep_load="yes" #wlan_tkip_load="YES" #wlan_ccmp_load="YES" wlan_xauth_load="YES" #if_ath_load="yes" kernel config file: ... # Wireless NIC cards device wlan # 802.11 support device wlan_wep # 802.11 WEP support device wlan_ccmp # 802.11 CCMP support device wlan_tkip # 802.11 TKIP support device ath # Atheros pci/cardbus NIC's device ath_hal # Atheros HAL (Hardware Access Layer) device ath_rate_sample # SampleRate tx rate control for ath device wlan_xauth # INTERESTING THAT THIS MODULE DOESN'T AUTO-LOAD WITH WPA ... ====== Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are truth, and his ways are justice; and he is able to bring low those who walk in pride.
