is this a new problem? Everything has been working
famously on this box
with respect to the builtin atheros ethernet device. I
updated to current
a few days ago and now after a few minutes the
connection dies with
repeated:

ath0: device timeout.

The difference is, as mentioned, I am on the latest
current.
also, since the generic kernel has the atheros stuff
in it I took them out
of /boot/loader.conf.

so, here's what I have:

/boot/loader.conf:

#wlan_wep_load="yes"
#wlan_tkip_load="YES"
#wlan_ccmp_load="YES"
wlan_xauth_load="YES"
#if_ath_load="yes"

kernel config file:
