Can someone make a port of this? It compiled fine on my machine (and installed fine too after I added a "-p" to the mkdir line) but when it comes to class libraries and stuff, I'm clueless.... Unlike the current version distributed by Sun's Javasoft*, this system performs "on-the-fly" conversion of the Java virtual machine code into native machine code. This allows execution of Java code at speeds approaching standard compiled code but maintains Java machine code independence. *NOTE*, this is version 0.1. This should indicate something about the stability and completeness of this program to you (if it was finished it'd be called 1.0 wouldn't it). However even this version will run simple applications and compile programs using Javasoft's Javac. The current version is available at the following: ftp.sarc.city.ac.uk:/pub/kaffe/kaffe-0.1.tgz For the moment it only supports FreeBSD-2.1.0, although a Linux port is forth coming (just as soon as I can get hold of a Linux machine). Other ports will be added as and when I have time.
