Well, I bit the bullet a few nights ago, pkg_delete'd XFree86 3, and installed the package of 4 on my stable 4.2 box. Went through and enabled xdmcp management in my xdm-config file, and verified all hosts are allowed to connect in the Xaccess file. I attempt to connect via exceed, and I never see the xdm login screen, either via a xdmcp broadcast, or a direct query. The xdm-errors file shows the following: xdm error (pid 12326): Cannot convert Internet address 1.0.0.1 to host name xdm error (pid 12326): Cannot convert Internet address 1.0.0.1 to host name xdm error (pid 12326): Cannot convert Internet address 1.0.0.1 to host name xdm error (pid 12326): Cannot convert Internet address 1.0.0.1 to host name .... etc etc etc Has anyone seen this before? 1.0.0.1 is most definitly NOT my IP address on my exceed machine - and it does have a valid forward and reverse IP. I don't believe it to be anything misconfigured on my network as a whole, mainly since XFree86 3.3.6 was working ok. Not sure where xdm is pulling that IP from, or how to fix. -- Mahlon Smith InternetCDS http://www.internetcds.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
