I haven't been watching too well until very lately, about ports development. Did you notice the relatively extravagant use I had to make of paired patch-it-then-sed-it sequences I had to make in thot? First patch in something like %%MOTIFLIB%%, then sed it out with the real value of $(MOTIFLIB). Is there any facility yet in ports to automate something like that? The dual patch-it-then-sed-it? It could be done automatically by, before patching, moving all the prospective patches to work/patches via sed, where sed could recognize the %%something%% type thing and do the change in the patch. Or maybe some other method.
