-----Original Message----- From: Benjamin Lutz [mailto:benlutz@datacomm.ch] Sent: Friday, March 24, 2000 4:47 AM To: freebsd-questions@freebsd.com Subject: Re: startx not starting it might be that either your startx or your .xinitrc file is bad: X will shut down after the last application started in those files free's the terminal. this means that the last line in your .xinitrc file launches something that has an "&" after it. just remove the ampersand and you should be fine. if it still exits again right after starting, launch something there, e.g. "exec xterm". Started XF86Setup ,selected the ps/2 mouse and Cirrus Logic card and 600X480 with 8 bpp as resolution. (the same card can do 800x600 with 16 bpp in Linux). The test performed by the server was fine and he created a link to SVGA xserver.Rebooted the machne. Now when I type startx I have the message "X connection to 0:0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown) " . I tried also by installing AcceleratedX 5.0 (wich went fine ) but when I startx I have the same message. any clue ?
