I have an older Ricoh MP6200S that works fine with 4.4
If you can't upgrade, you might be able to figure out how to fix
your current version by looking at the source code to cdrecord.
As I understand it, the SCSI passthrough device in FreeBSD allows
cdrecord to talk to the drive directly, so the information on how
to control that drive should be in the source to cdrecord.
