hardware: dell inspiron8100
os: freebsd 5.2.1

i've got pcm in the kernel and built, i have snd_maestro3_load=3D"yes" =
in
loader.conf. kldstat has both snd_maestro3.ko and snd_pcm.ko. played
with bios param minipci, but that doesn't seem to help. [i don't have a
pnp option.]

%grep pcm /var/run/dmesg.boot=20
Preloaded elf module "/boot/kernel/snd_pcm.ko" at 0xc0a5e280.
pcm0: <ESS Technology Maestro3> port 0xec00-0xecff mem
0xf8ffe000-0xf8ffffff irq 5 at device 3.0 on pci2
pcm0: <SigmaTel STAC9721/23 AC97 Codec>

fstat | grep dsp returns nothing.

cdcontrol -f /dev/acd0 play 1 seems to start the cd playing, as i can
see it reading, but no sound.

kde loads with no errors and no sound.

xmms "plays" mp3's but again, no sound.

anyone have any ideas? sound worked a week ago when i had winbloz on it.
i've also mashed the mute button a couple thousand times to make sure
that wasn't switched off.
