Isn't XF86 currently at 3.3.3.1? If so, you should try upgrading (Not
that I've tried ugrading X without also doing a FreeBSD upgrade, so I
can't say how easy/hard this may turn out to be....).
The other alternative is commercial - either XiG or Metrolink.
