I then tried a different Alpha (ev45) and set of disks to see if the problem was just with the 1st Alpha I tried this one. I got the same results -- newfs(8) runs as if "-N" as given, and the FFS file system is never written to the `ccd'. At this point I'd like to hear from anyone that has created a `ccd' on an Alpha recently. Otherwise, I'll ask Wilko to note that the `ccd' driver is broken in the 4.3/AXP notes.
