Having looked at the app-defaults for XConsole there, all appears to be "normal". Problem is this: xconsole no longer has a scroll function (when needed), both horizontal and vertical. What am I missing? Window manager is Gnome/Sawfish, if that matters. I'm not subscribed to this list, but will check the archives.. a cc: to me would be nice! Tnx..
