Below is a brief description of my network: 1 Novell 3.12 server 1 8 port hub 1 cable modem (connected to the hub) 2 windows98 workstations (connected to the hub, ip: 192.168.0.7 and 192.168.0.11) 1 freebsd 2.2.7 with 2 network cards (see ifconfig -a below) My freebsd server is configured as follows: 1 FreeBSD 2.2.7 server running as a gateway (dual-hommed to a cable modem) ifconfig -a gives the following ed2: flags=8843 mtu 1500 inet 192.168.0.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.0.255 ether 00:68:67:22:0c:39 ed0: flags=8843 mtu 1500 inet 24.4.115.200 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.0.255 ether 00:40:33:58:d9:bf lp0: flags=8810 mtu 1500 tun0: flags=8819 mtu 1500 sl0: flags=c010 mtu 552 ppp0: flags=8010 mtu 1500 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 The gateway is running as desired! Xserver running the KDE desktop Netscape 4.5 Communicator Apache 1.3 with Front Page Extensions Installed Eventually, I will register the freebsd server to have a domain name. I guess that I need to setup the following as well: DNS server Problem: I can not get the SAMBA server configured properly, I have tried to install swat to assist me in managing my samba server config, but I cannot get it to run properly, I'm not even sure that it is installed properly on my server. Is there a port for the swat package? Any additional pointers would be helpful. Thanks in advance!
